Sportshall County appearances for clubs youngsters

Sportshall is the first introduction to competitive athletics for the youngest of the clubs athletes. After appearing in the Hampshire Sportshall league, many of the clubs athletes are then chosen to take part for the county in the annual Regional event which for the South East region was held in Burgess Hill on Sunday. The county team is managed by the clubs Sportshall Team Manager Steve Torrance.The Sportshall age groups follow the cross country rather than track & field path and therefore schools years 4,5 & 6 are in the U11 age group, school years 7 & 8 in the U13 age group and school years 9 & 10 are in the U15 age group.For the U15 girls, Beth Mballa (coach Heather Sheffield) was 2nd in the shot, 10th in the vertical jump and 21st in the 2 lap race to collect 88 points for the county. Olivia Bartoslewicz (coach Andy Fisher) was 12th in the shot and 19th in both the standing long jump & 2 lap race to collect 55 points for the county and Hampshire were 7th overall in this age group.For the U15 boys, Joel Stanton (coach Andy Fisher) was 8th in the shot, 15th in the 4 lap race and 18th in the standing triple jump to earn 74 points for the county with Hampshire coming 6th overall.For the 13 girls, Lily Flute (coach Andy Fisher) was 2nd in the 2 lap race and 11th in the standing triple jump to collect 38 points. Anais Andrew (coach Andy Fisher) was 2nd in the shot and 10th in the 6 lap race to collect 40 points. Hampshire were 7th on the day.In the U13 boys age group, William Griffiths (U13 Academy) was 11th in the spped bounce for 10 points. Jackson Purdie (coach Andy Fisher) was 10th in the vertical jump for 12 points. Rhys Wye (coach Dave Sherry) was 4th in both the shot and the 4 lap race for 48 points and Same Evans (coach Andy Fisher) was 12th in both the 6 lap race and standing triple jump for 16 points. Hampshire finished 6th in this age group.For the youngest age groups the U11's in the girls event Hampshire took an impressive 3rd place. Lottie Osman (U11 Academy) won the speed bounce and was 13th in the target throw. Francesca Bertacchini (U13 Academy) was 7th on the target throw. Mia Gligorovski (U13 Academy) was 4th in standing long jump and 5th in chest push. The boys were 5th on the day. Declan Dew (U11 Academy) was 2nd in speed bounce and 12th in standing long jump. Arthur Cooney (U11 Academy) was 17th in verical jump and 21st in Speed bounce. Christopher Wood (U13 Academy) was 8th in cherst push and 14th in vertical jump. Eli Walsh (Junior Athletics Group) was 3rd in target throw and 9th in balance test. Harry Elliott (U11 Academy) was 19th in speed bounce and standing long jump and Phoenix Vaughan (Junior Athletics Group) was 5th in chest push and 17th in the balance test.The last of this seasons sportshall action takes place in the 4th Hampshire Sportshall league match in Eastleigh on Sunday.
