Throws group get ready for outdoor season

The throws group got ready (warmed up not really the right words on a cold day) for the outdoor season to come with some good performances despite really cold conditions at the winter throws event in Basingstoke on Saturday.Charlie Elford Pond (coach Eric Davidson) didn't have his best day with the 6kg hammer but Evie Scott and Erin McBriar (both coached by Martin McBriar) both threw well with the 3kg hammer and Richard White (coach Martin McBriar) threw a pb in the V50 age group hammer and showed he will be a useful addition to our vets teams this Summer. In the discus, Richard also threw a pb with the 1.5kg weight as did Reuben Noott (coach Martin McBriar) with the 1.25kg weight. Erin was not far off her pb and Abi McBriar (coach Martin McBriar) did throw a discus pb of 31.14m which was very impressive in the cold conditions where circle speed was compromised. In the javelin Ned Scott (coach Martin McBriar) went out to nearly 40m in the U15 boys age group and Abi went over 30m in the girls equivilent age group. The throws are such a consistent point scoring disciplin for the club in league matches and it looks like this season is going to be a good one.
