Medals of every colour for senior WADAC Cross Country runners in the final Hampshire League race of the season.

nFirst up were the ladies. With the Vets team Team Gold already in the bag, there was still the opportunity to fight for a bronze or silver medal in the Senior Team competition with 4 teams in contention.
n
nVicky Gill led the charge coming 7th overall and 1st Vet she was swiftly followed by Lucy Elliott 9th and 2nd Vet. The final member of the team on the day was Jane Gandee, 28th overall and 6th Vet. This gave them 4th place on the day which over all meant they secured Team Bronze for the series, just 1 point behind Basingstoke, a fantastic achievement.
n
nIndividually in the Vets league the ladies had 4 athletes in the top 10; 1st Vicky Gill, 3rd Jane Gandee, 6th Sam Parkinson and 8th Charlie Hoskins.
n
nIn an exciting climax to the season, WADAC senior men, after a wait of many years, triumphed, beating Basingstoke in the closest of outcomes. In a race where 6 of the top 10 places went to runners from these two clubs, there was nothing to separate them on the day with both teams scoring 38 points and in the league 7 points apiece. However, on total points, WADAC outscored their close rivals.
n
nWill Boutwood continued his fine form to finish 2nd place on the day on a fast, flat course, notable for an absence of mud for the second week in a row. This also means that Will claims a silver medal in the individual standings. Close behind in 3rd place was Freddie Slemeck with Adrian Fautly the next WADAC man home in 7th place. A welcome and timely return for George King saw him use all his experience to hold on for 11th place ahead of the next Basingstoke runner. That just left Calum Upton to complete the scoring for the men’s team in 15th but significantly well ahead of Basingstoke’s next runner.
n
nThe black and gold vests continued to flood across the line: Andy Winterbottom (21st), Jacques Caignard (27th), evergreen Rich Bidgood (31st) with Dan Cunnington, Joe Driscoll and Mags Gregory finishing together in 37th, 38th and 39th place respectively. Jacques also sealed a fine silver medal in the veterans' category to cap a fine first season for the club. The large WADAC contingent was completed by Jon Vintner and Tim Smales, both finishing within the top 50, Nick Davies, David Comb, Bracken Dawson, Will Hadley, Rob Carter, Colin McManus and Stephen Lowy. The trio of Caignard, Bidgood and Smales did more than enough to secure an overall team silver for the WADAC veterans team.
n
nIt has been a wonderful season, with so many runners of all ages and standards competing in the black and gold of Winchester.
