London Calling for WADAC

The first two runners home for WADAC, who both dipped under the 2hr 30min mark, were George King (2:29:19) and Andy Winterbottom (2:29:44), finishing 119th and 124th overall respectively. Also putting in outstanding age group performances were London Marathon veterans Joy Radford (4:03:37) and Jonathan Kane (4:57:00), both runners-up in their respective age categories.
nClose behind George and Andy were Ben Findlay (2:33:43) Dave Gaskell (2:44:09), Tamas Brown (2:53:29) and Andy Costello (2:58:10) who all finished in under 3 hrs. A steady stream of black and gold continued to cross the line: Nick Davies, Ian Berry-Bowers, Matt Smallman, Bruce Ayling, and Kevin Neave all below the 3:15:00 mark. Emma Carter was the first WADAC lady home having run a very consistent pace to PB in 3:20:31 with Mikaela Price hot on her heels in 3:22:16. The sub 3:30:00 crowd was completed by Patrick Warburton, Rick Munro and Claire Jackson.
nCaroline Carr was next to finish with Lloyd Dickson, fresh (some might say) from Manchester and Fiona Bolton all under 3:45:00. With most runners in the mass event still out on the course, Jess Milborne completed her first marathon in just over 4 hrs, with Jo Curtis following her home and finishing in a very creditable 35th place in her age group.
nThe crowning glory of the day was Justin Corrie finishing in 4:37:18. Not his fastest marathon, but he was quite clearly hampered by running with two other people while carrying a large crown. The second King of the day to finish for WADAC!
nSpecial mention should also go to coach Nick Anderson, part of the bicycle security team ensuring the safety of the lead runners and his insightful interviewing of runners as they finished.
nFull Results can be found here for all WADAC's athletes. Well done to all and now onwards and upwards to the next batch of races - road race league, RR10, track or Welsh Castles
