WADAC Mad for it in Manchester
The Black and Gold of WADAC was evident along the streets of Manchester on Sunday 16th April with some excellent performances. Naomi Mitchell went one place better than last year to win the ladies race in a time of 02:31:26. Though Winchester is her 2nd claim club, Naomi is an inspirational figure to us all and a regular at the club on Tuesday evenings. Lloyd Dickson led the way for the remainder of WADAC's runners finishing in a very quick time of 2:36:43 (PB). Lloyd was closely followed by Tom Oliver 2:37:51 (PB), Goerge Belfield 2:41:02 (PB), and James Bewley 2:42:50 (PB). Glen Churchill, 2:49:44 (PB) ran strongly having picked up a slight injury in the weeks leading up to the race with Bracken Dawson achieving a massive (PB) in 2:55:39. Phil Hurst 2:57:43 (PB) was the next sub 3 runner with Alex Lane 2:59:01 (PB) the last.
nStill the WADAC runners continued to cross the finish line: Ruth Churchill 3:08:23 (PB), Jules May 3:08:46 and (PB), Sam Parkinson 3:17:03, another massive PB and 2nd in age category James Bailey 3:20:15, an astonishing 65 minutes quicker than his previous best, Dean Rawlins 3:25:27 and (PB), Steve Oliver 3:27:48 and a determined Kate Green 3:26:56 who struggled with sickness on the route.
nAnd a final mention to the two-leg relay team of Will Harding and Jono Brown.
nAlso running a marathon a little further afield was Hayley Langley who completed Boston in 3:33:16.
nCoach Nick Anderson was delighted with the results, 'Manchester has a great atmosphere and running a marathon is never easy, sometimes you just got to roll with it and the crowds help with that. '
nWell done everyone - on to London
