Weekend track & field Preview

Another exciting weekend of athletics in store. The Loughborough throws pathway international is an exciting competition for the countries leading young throwers and Charlie Elford-Pond (coach Eric Davison) has been selected as a guest and today will be throwing the 5kg (U18) weight hammer. Our U17's & U20's will be in league action tomorrow as they take part in their 2nd upper age group YDL match in Brighton along with our composite partners in this league, City of Portsmouth AC.Monday see the fest meetings take place although both Biggish and hurdles fest have been moved from Chelmsford (which already was a replacement for Beford in the case of Biggish) because the track isn't ready for competition. My understanding is that next weeks South of England U20 & Senior champs has also been moved from Chelmsford and this worrying increasing trend of tracks or parts of tracks such as the throwing cage or pole vault bed not being available makes us realise just how lucky we are to be based at Winchester.
