Lily breaks age group record
WADAC athletes in action North, Midlands & South yesterday with some outstanding performances.Lily Neate (coach Nick Anderson) ran her first ever 5000m on the track at the BMC Grand Prix in Manchester. This was also a World Athletics challenger event (there are nowhere near enough of these in the UK compared to our european neighbours) meaning Lily's performance will earn her a place on the world lists and world ranking points which I estimate at around 885. I didn't follow the live stream but Lily came 14th in a time of 17 mins 33.10 secs which broke Hayley Munn's 15 year old U20 womens club record.Charlie Elford-Pond (coach Eric Davison) was selected for a guest spot at the Loughborough Pathways International and threw 61.52m with the 5kg hammer in the U8 age group. Whilst this event is not included in the Commonwealth youth games for the U18 age group, Charlie does top the UK rankings for this age group and is 37th in the world U18 rankings and will be hoping for selection in the GB U18 team for the Manchester International in August.Sisters Chloe & Holly Poore (coach Andy Fisher) competed at the BFTTA series at Lee Valley. U15G Chloe is in the form of her life just now and followed her pb of 12.90 secs in the 100m with a rapid time of 26.04 secs in the 200m and was very unlucky that this was one of the few races where the wind was above the legal limit. Holly ran 15.14 secs in the fastest of her 2 100m races.
