WADAC athletes open their indoor season
A number of WADAC athletes opened their indoor seaso at the BFTTA Open Meeting in Lee Valley on Sunday. This was a World Athletics accredited meeting meaning that performances of a certain standard for age groups and events at U18, U20 & Senior level will appear on World Athletics toplists. These lists are valid for indoor (short track as it is called these days) and outdoor performances and begin on the 1st January each year in much the same as pof10 does. World athletics age groups work in calender years and whilst the England Athletics age groups are changing to even years (U12, U14, U16, U18) from April 2026 this will still work on a school year rather than a calender year basis.
The Gligorovski sisters Ema (U13 Academy) & Mia (Coach Andy Fisher) took part in their respective U13 & U15 age groups with Ema going to 3rd in the clubs all time indoor age group list with her run in the 800m and also competed in long jump and HJ where in her first ever try at the event she recorded an impressive jump of 1.20m. Mia ran a pb of 10.09 in the sprint hurdles before long jumping 4.21m. Jess Howells (coach Andy Fisher) competed in the HJ clearing 1.45m and Gracie Osman (coach Andy Fisher) ran a new pb of 7.97 secs in the 60m and blew the rust away in the LJ with a leap of 5.35m.
