Track & Field fixture lists sent to every club member
With the outdoor track & field season fast approaching, every member of the club has been sent a league fixture list specific to them.
Whether you are 8 years old and taking part in the quadkids at the Wessex League or 80 years old and taking part in the Hampshire vets league, you know the dates of the fixtures and how the teams are chosen.
This is a historic year for WADAC as we compete in the NAL for the very first time and we are looking forward to record numbers of athlets representing the club in league matches this year.
2024 Review October
October is a down month for track & field but momentus nevertheless as the club learnt in October that we were to be admitted into the National Athletics league for 2025.
The club will compete in the Championship (West) division with fixtures in Yeovil on the 31st May, Basingstke on the 5th July and Cardiff on the 19th July
Weekend track & field preview
The first round of NAL (National Athletics League) matches today is the highlight of this weekends action. As a club we are not (yet) in this league but many of are athletes will be in higher claim action for other clubs.
Tomorrow sees the first round of the Wessex League for Winchester and we have a huge team in action at our home track. Whilst this is a development league giving everyone a chance to take part, it is the main league for our U11 quadkids and we wish them well as they look to defend last years title.
Good luck to everyone in action in the June sunshine.
No results have been updated for the last couple of weeks on the website and I will get around to doing this it is just such a busy time just now.
Sam breaks his own club record
Sam Clifton (coach Jeremy Clifton) showed that hammer throwing at the club is in rude health by breaking his own club record with a throw of 49.03m at the University of Birmingham Winter throws meet on Saturday. This is an absolute club record (any age group) and any time these are broken is a reason to celebrate. This was Sam's only valid throw of a 6 throw series, and I am reliably informed he was a marginal foot foul away from a huge pb of 54m which will surely come later in the season with a bit of sun on his back.Sam is one of our highly valued first claim athletes away at University and will be throwing in the National Athletics League as a higher claim athlete for Sale Harriers this season but retains first claim membership to enable him to compete for WADAC in the SAL and in championship events.
