British Championships Selection for Maddie Turner

On Saturday 24th August, Maddie Turner competed in the 400m hurdles at the British Championships in Birmingham. This is an outstanding achievement as Maddie is still 17, in her first year as an U20 and was the youngest athlete selected to compete in a field of 32 athletes. The top British athletes compete in these championships and are effectively trials for the World Athletics Championships in Doha, starting at the end of September, enabling Maddie to gain valuable experience of competing at this level.

nThis event was part of a very impressive season for Maddie, winning the Hampshire Championships, finishing 4th at the U20 South of England Championships, with a PB of 62.96 seconds and finishing 6th at the English Schools Championships. Maddie has also just been selected for the U20 inter-county championships on the 7th September. As well as competing at these very competitive events, Maddie has shown an enormous amount of commitment to WADAC, competing in 6 league matches.
