Under 13, 15 & 17 South of England Track & Field Championship
Winchester & District Athletic Club athletes supported the South of England Track & Field Championships for Under 13,15 and 17 athletes plus Senior Walks, which was held at the Julie Rose Stadium in Ashford Kent.
nPride of place went to Under 15 girl Olivia Busher who threw a splendid personal best in the Javelin of 39.75m to win the Championship. Olivia is currently ranked 5th in the UK for Under 15 girls in 2019 has improved her PB by over 7metres this season.

nGrace Weeks has made vast improvements this season at the Under 13 girls 70m hurdles event. At Ashford Grace qualified for the final of the hurdles by finishing 3rd in her heat in 12.46. In the final Grace ran very well and placed 5th in 12.26. Grace is ranked in the top 25 in the UK for the 70m hurdles. Grace also competed in the 200m where she ran 29.88 for 5th in her heat.

nIn the Under 15 boys sprints Ed Bruce gained good experience by running both the 100m and 200m events. Ed placed 5th in his 100m heat in 12.6 and 8th in his 200m heat in 25.91.

nHigh jumping is improving greatly at WADAC through experienced coaching and concentrating on developing the athletes at the event. Jess Gordon has gained great success at High Jump at Under 17 women National level this season. At these Championship U15B Ruben Burrows increased his Personal best up to 1.70m to finish 7th in a very competitive event. Benjamin Bewick jumped 1.25m in the U13B competition for 3rd position.

nIn the throws there were three other WADAC athletes taking part and Alexander Miles launched the U17M Javelin 42.43m for 5th position. Finlay Wrey-Brown threw the Under 15 Javelin 36.97m for 8th overall. In the Discus Charlie Elford-Pond threw 29.10m for 10th placing.

nDan Kimber goes from strength to strength in the U15B 80m hurdles and at Ashford he ran strongly for 4th in his heat in 12.28. Also in the hurdles in the U17W age group Rebecca Mitchell ran a PB of 51.19 in the 300m hurdles for 5th in her heat. Emily Weeks also contested this event running 58.14 in her heat.

nBetti Smith coming back from injury ran 14.76 in the Under 13 girls 100m for 6th in her heat.

nIn the 3k walking event sisters Rebecca and Natasha Mitchell produced very consistent performers with Rebecca 7th in 18.12.9 and Natasha 8th in 18.13.8. In the Senior 5k walk David Mitchell was 7th in 30.33.5 and Derek Smith 12th in 36.59.4.
