YDL Lower Age Group
Winchester & District Athletic Club followed up their momentous Wessex Young Athlete Track Field League Championship success with promotion from Division South West 2 of the Youth Development League lower age group (Under 13 and 15 athletes).
nThe final league match was held at Worthing and WADAC made the journey to Sussex worth it by winning the event and in doing so top of the Division. WADAC had opposition from Worthing, Aldershot & Farnham, Camberley, Chichester, Woking and Havant.

nEd Bruce achieved a splendid sprint double in the Under 15 boys 100m and 200m A races with times of 12.2 and 25.1. In the 100m B race Matt De Lara also won well in 12.8. Matt also leapt 5.36m to win the A string Long Jump. Dan Kimber had a superb day sprinting to victory in the 200m B race in 25.9, hurdling to a win in 80m hurdles race and throwing the Shot 9.20m to win the B event. In the U15B throws Finlay Wrey-Brown had a trio of 2nd places 37.13m Javelin A 29.85m Discus A and 24.39m Hammer A.

nOscar Hoult produced a double win in the Long Jump B 4.29m and Javelin B 21.63m plus Connor Dutton 1st 300m B 46.0. WADAC did excellently in the U15B relays winning both the 4x100 and 4x300 races. The sprint relay team of Dan Kimber, Alexander Beck, Sello Mtshweni and Ed Bruce running 55.5 and the 4x300m quartet of Matt De Lara, Connor Dutton, Ollie Withers and Matt Duckering running 2.56.9.

nGrace Weeks was as reliable as ever easily winning the U13G 70m hurdles race in 11.9 and also ran a good 150m with 2nd A in 20.8 plus gaining points in the 75m. Amy Porter was also as consistent as in previous matches winning the 70m hurdles B race plus gaining good points in the Long and High Jumps B strings. Isabel Ord won the U13G High Jump overall with a leap of 1.35m. Lauren Richards keeps improving in the Shot events and won this event with a throw of 7.40m. The 4x100 team of Grace Weeks, Addie Thomas, Maisie Curtis and Isabel Ord were 3rd in 60.7.

nOlivia Busher was as dominant as ever in the Under 15 girls Javelin winning with 33.11m, she did not stop there though and also picked up points in the Discus A 2nd 19.19m and Hammer A 2nd 21.60m. Daisy Shaw produced a strong sprint display with a 13.4 100m run for 2nd A and 28.0 in the 200m A race also for 2nd. WADAC picked up maximum points in the U15G 75m hurdles with Emma Shedden 1st A 12.4 and Alice Eyssens 1ST b 12.8. Alice added a win in the Shot with a throw of 6.92m and Emma also won the Javelin B with 16.68m. Millie Burgess is improving with each race and showed this with a 2nd place in the 1500m in 5.13.2.

nOscar Webb had his routine win in the U13B High Jump with 1.55m but also achieved a win in the Shot with 9.05m and highlighted his versatility with 2nd in the 75m hurdles in 13.6. In the B hurdles Oscar was backed up by Andrew White winning with 14.7. In the U13B sprint Musa Sanyang won the 100m B race in 14.1 with Timon Francis gaining points in both the 100m and 200m.

nThere were B string wins for Sam Nicholson Long Jump 3.98m and Ben Bewick 1.35m. The foursome of Musa Sanyang, Timon Francis, Ben Bewick and Andrew White were 2nd in the 4x100m relay in 58.5.
