Medals on the second day of the South of England Champs
Despite the terrible weather today at the Champs, I am pleased to announce that Olivia Busher won gold in the U15 Girls javelin with a PB of 39.75 metres and Ben Bewick won Bronze in the u13 boys high jump.
nOlivia has had an amazing season taking her ranking to 5th in the UK only a couple of metres short of the number 1 thrower.
nRebecca Mitchell and Natasha Mitchell both won bronze medals in the U17 and U15 3000m walks.
nRuben Burrows matched his PB in the u15 boys high jump with a fine jump of 1.70m, which was even more impressive given the conditions today. He came sixth overall but only 5cms from gold on the day.
nCharlie Elford Pond threw 29.10m in the u15 boys’ discus and secured 10th place in a very competitive field.
nAlex Miles placed 5th in the U17 javelin in a very competitive field which had 3 of the top 7 in the UK competing.
nAlso David Mitchell secured a bronze medal in the men’s 5000m walk was followed by Derek Smith in 5th place.
