HRRL Catch Up - Alton 10
The Alton 10 is a special race within the HRRL programme....it's a hilly course set to the East of Alton and being in early May it can be warm and a bit of a challenge for those with post-marathon legs.
nThis year was no different but our teams were up to the task and once again our marvellous ladies were to the fore with Tamsin Anderson winning the ladies race and Sarah Gurney 3rd overall and first in her age cat. With strong support from Emma Carter (10th & 2nd in age cat) and Susy Perry (11th) our ladies A team were comfortable winners on the day and similarly clear in top spot in the league.
nWe had a great turnout from the men with three complete teams led home by Paul Gaimster with a fine performance to finish 3rd overall and first in his age cat. Our A team (again 4 to score) was further composed of Rich Bidgood (7th & 3rd in age cat), Dave Gaskell (11th) and Andy Parkinson (35th). Fine performances and good enough to put our A-team 2nd on the day and still holding on to top spot in the league. A special mention too for Jonathan Kane a veteran of this event and winning his Age Cat once again.
nTwo races to go - the Netley 10k was today and the season finale is the Alresford 10k on 19th June. There are still places available for the Alresford race (which is a lovely out and back course in the countryside North of Alresford) and it's your last chance to get out there and score some points for our HRRL teams...and of course bag yourselves some points in the WADAC HRRL Grand Prix for 2021/22.
