Bella breaks British age record

On a bittersweet Afternoon in Bedford on Sunday, the trials for the European U18 championships took place with invited competitors hoping to seal their place in the GB team. Two places are up for grabs in each event.Arabella Wilson (coach Andy Fisher) took her place in a stellar 400m hurdles field and finished in 3rd place just missing out on the team but in doing so ran an astonishing time of 59.99 secs. As was announced in the stadium, this time was the fastest ever run by a 15 year old, breaking the british age 15 record and Bella therefore became the first British 15 year old girl to break 60 secs for this event. The 16 year old winner Steph Okoro broke the British U18 & U17 record with 17 year old Orphelia Pye .25 secs in front of Bella sealing the other spot on the GB team that was announced yesterday. It was undoubtedly the rce of the day and whilst clearly disappointed not to make the GB team, Bella can take a great deal of pride from running her best race when it mattered and having her name in the record books.
