Abi & Lucia in top 10 finishes

The National U15 & U17 Combined Events champs took place in Bedford at the weekend and resulted in top 10 finishes for WADAC athletes in both the U17 womens heptathlon and the U15 girls hexathlon.Abi Belward (coach Andy Fisher) was 5th in the U17W heptathlon and in doing so recorded pb's in the hurdles, shot putt (11.74m), 200m & 800m. Abi had her usual set of very solid performances across all events and was particularly pleased to snatch a top 5 finish with a great 800m to finish. Lucia Bertacchini (coach Andy Fisher) was 8th in the U15G Hexathlon including a new pb in the shot putt and whilst this wasn't Lucia's best set of performances, she will be back in this same age group next year. It is a measure of how far the club has come that it wasn't long ago that an appearance in the National champs was rare for a WADAC athlete, whereas nowadays not a national champs goes by where the club doesn't seem to record a top 5 finish.
