Relay fun at Beachborough and Brackley Triathlon for the junior tri group

Members of the junior tri group travelled to Stowe School near Buckingham on Sunday for another South-Central League event. This has to the be grandest venue yet for an event with a long drive through the estate to the school and sign on in a hallway that looked like a museum. The weather didn’t disappoint either after being threatened with rain and a potentially slippery bike course for anyone on road tyres.
n
nIt was an early start with our older athletes going off at 9am. Kali Ruffell-Moreira came in 7th after a very respectable 4th fastest swim. Bearing in mind all the top girls in the region were attending. Ruben Price, a little tired after his 1500m exploits recently came in 5th but still heads the league and Ben Carr 17th. In the TS 2 Ben Phillips came in 14th boy and Patrick Skipwith 29th boy with a very respectable 11th placed bike split.
n
nAfter the individual event, Laura Speirs joined us for the TS3 relay team. This was the event everyone had been looking forward to. A boy, girl, boy, girl team over a shortened course and the swim being a mass start. Kali led out of the pool and maintained 3rd position handing the timing chip over the Ethan Skipwith. With fierce competition from teams made up of top-level county runners and triathletes, it was going to be tough, but Laura Speirs did a great job to maintain the 3rd spot. Ruben Price finished strongly to get the job done.
n
nWe hope to see more WADAC athletes making up relay teams here next year.
