Deeper review of survey results - communication

Following our recent survey, the Committee has reviewed the individual feedback relating to communications in further detail.

nWhilst the feedback was that 90% of members believed they received enough information from the club about events and competitions, based on the feedback received we believe more can be done to improve our social media channels and our website. Thank you for all the individual comments and ideas.

nOur members overwhelmingly preferred communications from the club to come through emails and communications between groups and members via WhatsApp.

nIt is clear that some members found our website old fashioned and difficult to navigate. Also, some were unable to locate the fixture lists and events calendar which were on the website.

nThe website was only developed and launched about 6 or so years ago and it is in my view better than many websites operated by other athletic clubs but I am sure we can do better. We do though need more volunteers to help in this area.

nWe would therefore like to set up a website user group of interested people who would review the current website and provide recommendations on what can be done to improve it. These would be presented to the committee and, in due course, any agreed proposals would be actioned by a third party developer under the coordination of the user group.

nFurther we have set up a further instagram account covering track and field (with an endurance account already in existence). This is in addition to our Facebook account. Alexa, our club administrator, will be sending an email around shortly to inform you of our social media handles and how you can connect to them. We would like to encourage our members and parents to post/link content especially from races and meetings. This must be done in accordance with our social media policy.

nStephen Lowy, one of our vet endurance athletes, is also considering how we can improve our communications generally across the club and will be speaking to various committee and club members about this. Thank you to him for helping in his regard.

nSo, please let me know if you would like to be involved in our website user group or a social media champion for your section of the club. The ideas are there, we now need volunteers to implement them.
