Weekend round-up
The clubs athletes were as usual in track & field action all over the world over last weekend and the round-up starts with Oliver Thatcher (coach Andy Fisher) who competed in a full decathlon last week and as part of this recorded his first 7m long jump. Oliver leapt out to 7.05m at the SAC championships in the Eastern USA and joined his former training partner Harry Crosby in going over the 7m mark this season.Our vets were in action at the Coronation open in Basingstoke on Friday with Kathryn Miles (coach Elias Mtshweni) and Sue Van Vuuren (self coached) both sprinting in appaling conditions which were not conducive to quick times.Jess Howells (coach Andy Fisher) ran a sprint hurdles wind legal pb at the BFTTA open meeting at Lee Valley on Sunday and training partner Arabella Wilson (coach Andy Fisher) also put in a seasons best performance in the 400m as both girls work towards their main targets for the season.
