Helen & Laura shine at Nationals
Results from English National senior champs
In the last of my catch up reports since my holiday, it was great to 3 WADAC athletes on the start lists at the English National senior champs in Chelmsford on the 22nd & 23rd July.
Toby Cooke (self coached) is listed as Did not finish in the mens 5000m but Helen Hall (coach Nick Anderson) finished in a fine 5th place in the womens 1500m. Helen's time was just outside the new pb she set in Bracknell in June. Helen also ran in the 1500m at BMC in Tooting last Wednesday and again finished just outside her pb and the very next day in Aldershot Helen broke her own 3000m club record recording a time of 9 mins 29.20 secs showing her great form has continued throughout the season.
Laura Clark (coach Mark Upton) was representing the British Army at the champs and finished 4th in her heat just missing out on the final but did have the consolation of a new pb of 56.62 secs. Earlier in the season on the 7th June, Laura had won the sprint treble of the 100m, 200m & 400m at the army champs at the military stadium in Aldershot.
Results from Watford last night
Will Atkins (coach Nick Anderson) continues to impress this season as he put down another PB at the Watford Open graded meeting yesterday.
Running in race 7 of the 1500m in dreadful conditions, Will ran a pb of 3 min 57.01 secs to improve his time in 2nd place on the clubs all time U17 mens list.
Harry Wilson set the club record just last year and Will still has 2 months of the track & field season left to make up the 1.5 secs required to overtake Harry whose record stands at 3 mins 55.69 secs.

Team WADAC win SAL match 2
The club won its second consecutive SAL match of the season when competing in Aldershot on the 18th June. With the usual mix of youth and experience that this league brings the club won points across run, hurdle, jump & throw with many athletes throwing themselves into events they wouldn't normally do.Sam Adams was a great example adding sprint hurdles and steeplechase to his usual long and triple jump and he also competed in both relays as the match concluded with the club winning all 4 relay events to seal the win.The match score hasn't yet been updated on the SAL website but all results can be found on pof10 through the link below.https://www.thepowerof10.info/...The third round of matches takes place in Bournemouth on Sunday the 9th July.

RR10 Race 6 Marwell, Results
Men's team take the win with George Belfield, our champion and the first runner to finish. Our ladies team came 2nd. Martyn West is the V70 champion as he has won his age category in all 6 races!
nIt was wonderful to be back at Marwell Zoo, the last time we ran this course was in 2016. The course ran along the same bridleways and footpaths as before but with small variations and in reverse. We started with a small lap of the carpark and then into the woods, a lap around a field of long grass then off and up the long incline to the highest point of the course. It was quite a technical course with plenty of tree roots (some had been helpfully marked up) and hopping up and down short sections into and out of woodland. We then entered into the 2nd field and could see the runners a long way ahead but also see some of the zoo buildings, easy to imagine that you were in another country at this point with so much thirsty looking grass. Then back into the woodland trails which were narrow and fun, overtaking spots needed to be carefully considered whilst negotiating the uneven ground. The signage then advised, right for the 2nd lap to do most of it all over again or left to the finish. It was a pleasure to bomb half way back to the finish funnel and then quite a shock to remember that the 2nd half was deceptively uphill. Tough.
nLast night enjoyed the 2nd highest number of runners this year, 503 in total comprising of 278 men, 225 ladies, 27 WADAC men and 14 ladies.
nOur men's team came first and was made up of George Belfield 1st, Wayne Bevan 7th, Paul Boyd-Leslie 12th, Pete Sansome 14th and Andy Costello 23rd. (Archie Ives did a cracking run and actually finished 6th but was not able to count due to the new rules of no parkrun barcode = no results. A tough lesson to us all but luckily the men were still fast enough to take the win).
nOur ladies team came second, with Ellie Davies 2nd, Ellie Swire 3rd and Eve Bailey 9th.
nWe have come a long way this season with magnificent results, well done every single one of you. However, we need to keep pushing hard for the next 3 races that we are able to take part in. Our men are 2nd to Romsey by 1 point! We can improve this and clinch the win. Ladies team, we are joint 1st with Stubbington, lets smash this and win it.
nFull results available here www.rr10.org.uk
nPlease come and run at the next race at the idyllic River Hamble Country Park, 7pm start this time. Please also ensure that you have registered your parkrun barcode with the RR10 https://www.rr10.org.uk/regist... and that you bring your barcode!
Records tumble
A top class display of middle distance running was evident at the BMC regional event (the Mick Marlow Memorial) in Bracknell last night as the clubs endurance athletes were in record breaking form. Will Atkins (coach Nick Anderson) went 2nd on the clubs all time (U17M) age group lists with a time of 1.58.57 secs nearly a second and a half quicker than he has run before to come 3rd in the 800m C race. Training partner Seth Noott (coach Nick Anderson) took half a second off his pb to run 2.07.58 secs in the F race at the same distance.Toby Cooke (self coached) broke his own pb to go 2nd on the clubs all time 1500m lists with a time of 3 mins 47.82 secs coming home 7th in the mens 1500m A race. In the womens equivilent, Helen Hall (coach Nick Anderson) was 3rd in a new pb of 4 mns 24.63 secs. This smashed Helen's former mark and is good enough to place her 2nd on the clubs all time lists. Poppy Taylor (Coach Nick Anderson) took a remarkable 4 secs off her pb to break the clubs age group record (U15W) with a time of 4 mins 39.70 secs in coming 3rd in the womens 1500m b race.In the mens a 3000m race, Will Boutwood (coach Nick Anderson) was another athlete in fine form running a pb of 8 mins 29.71 secs.
